Kebbi: Terrorists release four of the eleven students and their infants who are still missing

Four of the remaining 11 kidnapped students from Kebbi State's Birnin Yauri Federal Government College are now free.

They were freed with two infants after obtaining an undisclosed ransom payment from the renowned bandit Dogo Gide, reportedly in the millions. Before the remaining ladies may be released, the state authorities must meet several conditions on the kingpin's list.

The victims' parents begged Nigerians in January to provide the money required to set the girls free. Instead, they were among at least 100 people who were apprehended in June 2021.

Salim Ka'oje and Daniel Alkali reported in an unsigned, open letter that the kidnappers demanded N100 million for the teenagers, aged 12 to 16, before releasing them.

The urgent public appeal was made in response to allegations that the Kebbi authorities did not meet the inmates' demands.

A mother of a kidnapped victim suddenly disappeared in November 2022, only a few days after discovering that her daughter had given birth in a terrorist stronghold.
