With the new prices, drivers in Dar es Salaam will pay Sh2, 871 per liter for petrol, up from Sh2, 781 last month, and Sh2, 847 for diesel. Things are different in the northern regions, such as Tanga, Kilimanjaro, Arusha, and Manyara, where the cost of petrol and diesel will remain at Sh2, 756, and Sh2, 900, respectively, as they did in April.
As a result, the cost of the goods received through the Dar es Salaam port and the transportation expenses to the relevant regions are used to determine the retail pricing for those regions.
The retail price of petrol and diesel for the fuel imported through the Mtwara port, which serves the southern areas (Mtwara, Lindi, and Ruvuma), will stay the same as in April because no fresh imports were received.
Due to its distance from the port where gasoline is imported, Kyerwa district in the Kagera region continues to be the most expensive selling location for petrol and diesel, now priced at Sh3,109.
The authority claimed that alterations in the international market and other factors were to blame for the country's increase and shift in fuel prices.
According to a statement from Ewura, the price changes are due to changes in global oil prices, transport costs (BPS Premium), and the shilling value relative to the US dollar.
