The Mattuga Magistrate's Court filed charges against five persons with murder and aggravated robbery in connection with the recent school shootings that killed multiple people.
The five are Reagan Mawejje, Yusuf Hassan Ali Babu, Paul Mayengo Musinguzi, Emma Ssetenda, and Denis Egesa. The group was charged with four charges of murder and thirteen counts of aggravated robbery, all of which are capital offenses and must be prosecuted in the High Court. They were not permitted to accept pleas.
The gang was subsequently sent to Luzira jail by Grade One Magistrate Latif Abubaker Nakibinge until May 23, when they will appear for the matter to be mentioned. The State is also anticipated to provide an update to the court on the status of the investigations.
"You have the right to seek bail, but the High Court of Uganda will hear it." "You will only appear in this court for mention," he explained.

The state prosecutor, Ms. Justine Nakayuza, told the court that inquiries into the case are ongoing and that she asked for extra time to allow police to conclude the investigation.
According to investigators, the group targeted various schools in Mukono, Luweero, Mpigi, and Wakiso, stealing items worth millions of shillings. The crew is accused of intentionally targeting head teachers, and bursar offices, and ransacking offices when they could not locate what they were seeking.
In the Wakiso District, at least 14 schools were assaulted. The gang is additionally accused of murdering five individuals, including four private security guards and a teacher, and causing injuries to 15 others.
Solomon Mijumbi, Christopher Aguyo, Joseph Miiro, and Milton Obote were killed.
