Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha is now on a hunger strike in New Delhi to protest the lack of progress on the Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament.
This happens the day before the Enforcement Directorate is supposed to examine her over the fraud involving the Delhi liquor policy.
Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha is now on a hunger strike in New Delhi to protest the lack of progress on the Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament.
At Ms. Kavitha's day-long demonstration at Jantar Mantar in the nation's capital, leaders of several groups, including Trinamool Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, National Conference, Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal, and Samajwadi Party, are anticipated to take part.
The demonstration would be attended by 18 parties, according to Ms. Kavitha, also the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Regarding the Women's Reservation Bill, Ms. Kavitha claimed that despite winning a clear majority in the 2014 and 2019 general elections and promising to execute the legislation, the BJP did not uphold its word.

"The Women's Reservation Bill is critical; we must introduce it quickly. I swear to all women that until the bill is introduced, this protest will not end. The law suggests amending the Constitution to reserve one-third of the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats.
A day before she is scheduled to be questioned by the Enforcement Directorate about the Delhi liquor policy scandal, the BR's leader goes on a hunger strike.
"We released a flyer on March 2 regarding the hunger strike in Delhi against the Women's Reservation Bill.
The ED called me on March 9. She told reporters in the nation's capital yesterday, "I requested for March 16, but I need to know what haste they're in, so I accepted for March 11.

"Why did the ED pick the day before my protest to question me, and why was it in a rush? It might have occurred the next day as well, said Ms. Kavitha. According to the ED investigation, the BR's leader is a "South Cartel" member, which received payments after Delhi's now-repealed liquor regulation was enacted.
The BRS head has refuted the claims and charged the center with abusing investigation agencies for political ends. However, the Indian government has continuously deployed its agencies to Telangana since last June. Why? Because Telangana elections are scheduled for November or December."
According to Ms. Kavitha, these were BJP tactics to deflect attention away from important issues.
