Vietnam and Angola have formed a multifaceted partnership

During their talks in Hanoi on November 15, Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu and Vieira Lopes Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary of State Domingos agreed that there is still plenty of room for the two countries to strengthen cooperation.

The US Embassy in Africa has warned about the "easy work, high salary" scam. The two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges, particularly at the high level, and to strive to increase bilateral trade to more than USD 100 million in the coming years.

The officials agreed to consider cooperation mechanisms and strengthen the legal framework to facilitate bilateral cooperation after exchanging notes on ways to improve cooperation in politics, diplomacy, the economy, trade, health care, and education.

Vietnam-Angola Inter-governmental Committee's seventh meeting will take place in Luanda as soon as possible, the two sides agreed.


Hieu praised Angola's position and role in Africa and expressed delight at positive developments in the two countries' friendship and multifaceted cooperation. 

The deputy minister expressed his hope that the two foreign ministries will continue to lead in promoting the region's time-honored relationship for peace, cooperation, and development.

Lopes stated that the Angolan government wishes to foster multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam and to elevate economic, trade, and investment partnerships to the level of the country's strong political ties.

The visiting official stated that he is accompanied by representatives from trade promotion agencies and 15 Angolan businesses operating in various sectors and seeking cooperation opportunities in Vietnam.

He emphasized that Angola's rapid diversification of its national economy will provide significant opportunities for Vietnamese firms. Hieu thanked Angola for its support in Vietnam's election to the 2023-2025 United Nations Human Rights Council for the period.


He urged the African country to support Vietnam's candidacy for the World Heritage Committee (WHC) seat for 2023-2027.

As part of celebrations marking the 47th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, the two officials then went to the opening ceremony of a photo exhibition showcasing Angola's culture, land, and people.

On November 14, the Angolan official was given a reception by Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son. According to Son, Vietnam is eager to collaborate with Angola to deepen bilateral relations effectively and practically.


Lopes emphasized Angola's long friendship with Vietnam as one of the first countries to build diplomatic ties with the African country after its independence.

The host and guest discussed specific ways to strengthen cooperation, such as increasing trade in mutually beneficial products like agricultural and pharmaceutical products and wood and expanding collaboration in education training, oil and gas, and digital transformation.


They also agreed to quickly negotiate and sign key documents to establish a legal framework for the collaboration.
