Verydarkman criticizes the Nigerian government for detaining minors for flying a Russian flag, highlighting their lack of education and the unfair treatment they face.
Media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has voiced his disappointment with the current Nigerian administration, led by President Bola Tinubu, for allegedly detaining minors under questionable circumstances. In a video posted on his Instagram, VDM expressed outrage after encountering several young boys, aged 11 to 15, who have been held in a police cell for over three months. Their alleged crime? Flying the Russian flag.
VDM explained that he came across the boys during his own court arraignment in Abuja, where he faced charges for wearing a police uniform without authorization. Noticing the frail and malnourished state of the boys, he learned they were unable to meet bail conditions and were thus forced to remain in detention. According to VDM, these boys are deprived of education and are reportedly unaware of their offense.
Public Reaction: Calls for Justice
The emotional video struck a chord with his followers, with many voicing frustration over the harsh treatment these children face for what they perceive as a harmless act. Supporters noted the irony of detaining these young boys while more serious offenders seem to walk free, and many were inspired by VDM’s commitment to drawing attention to social injustices despite his own legal troubles.
VDM took the opportunity to call on President Tinubu, urging the administration to reconsider its treatment of minors in detention and to take steps toward a fairer justice system for all Nigerians, especially vulnerable children who may lack proper representation and protection.
