SetSail set out to create a new system for paying salesmen that would allow businesses to pay salespeople based on where they were in the pipeline rather than all at once when they closed a deal. They thought this strategy would encourage salesmen to take more chances.
To understand where the sales process is at, such a strategy needs a lot of data, and it turns out that data infrastructure is a beautiful source for generative AI. So today, the business unveiled new features that enable users to ask the system inquiries in natural language, which are then converted into SQL queries and answered.
Haggai Levi, co-founder and CEO of SetSail, claim that his business discovered the necessity of removing crucial data from data silos to create an equitable sales compensation system. His company created the core data layer.
By displaying it in ways other than dashboards with predefined data, they could now use it to respond to particular inquiries. Levi said of the past three and a half years that they spent lots of time on that data infrastructure product that connects all of these silos and gives you 360-degree views using dashboards.
"But then ChatGTP comes along, and we realize, hey, this is another great entry point into our data." He makes the point that, in addition to being proficient at writing text, ChatGPT is also adept at writing code, including well-structured SQL queries, which are good enough to substitute dashboards with an interactive discussion on top of the data.
"We combined the GPT's strength with the data system we built. Simply put, it begs the question: Why do we need dashboards? He claimed that we no longer require dashboards because we can directly pose questions and provide direct responses.
He still believes that creating sales incentives is a good concept. Still, the data infrastructure he made is valuable, even if you use it for something other than the original intent.
"We had to develop an extraordinary data set that monitors everything automatically to deliver on our initial vision...and we discovered that consumers place a lot of value on the infrastructure alone, he said.
To ask more specific questions, such as which deals are about to close, which salespeople are having trouble, and who is meeting with a senior decision-maker this week, you should first identify the values almost ready to close.
Then, instead of just glancing at data points in a dashboard, the system connects to email, calendars, CRM, and the marketing automation system to create a picture and provide improved answers.
The business also disclosed an $11 million investment in addition to these new powers. Investors included Zoom Ventures, which recently debuted Zoom IQ. This brand-new communication tool complements the updated features of SetSail.
With the most recent investment, the business, founded in 2018, has raised nearly $50 million.
