Sammie Okposo was born by his parents on the 30th of May, 1971 in Delta State, Nigeria. He gained his primary and secondary school education in Delta State, Nigeria.
Sammie began his career as an instrumentalist in his local church as part of the Choir playing piano at the very young age of 10.
He began his professional career in the year 1992. His first gig was working as a soundtrack producer in Nollywood. He later went on to enter full music production.
He later hosted a series of concerts tagged Sammie Okposo Praise Party(SOPP).
He released an album in 2004 titled “Addicted”. His latest song was "My Miracle". He became a Globacom Ambassador and the United Peace Ambassador.
Sammie Okposo set a new record for the Nigerian Gospel Music industry with his hit song “Welu Welu”. It was released in the year 2000 and it received great global recognition.
He was asked to perform at the Martin Luther King Day and 4th Independence Celebration by the American Ambassador to Nigeria in 2004.

I was so timid, I almost stopped smiling and almost stopped laughing, but there was this inner strength in me that helped me to rediscover myself. In fact, I had no self-esteem then.
I wanted to change and be who I was not, based on the ill-treatment and violent nature of my man then. He was constantly abusing, beating and battering me inside the house and in public places.
I think there was a time when I walked around with a bandage on my leg, courtesy of my violent lover. Funny enough, this violent lover of mine claimed to love me and wanted to marry me then. I wanted to marry him.
I started buying pots and other household items because I was in love. I wanted to settle down, I wanted to have my children with him. I wanted to be happy and continue to do my work but he was that bad.
I kept thinking he would change, but he didn’t. I tried my best to be everything to him, but finally, I said enough was enough, this relationship was not of God and not for me. During those turbulent periods, I was ashamed."
Controversies With His Wife, Ozioma
The singer recently gave a public apology to his wife, Ozioma after cheating on her while he was in the United States.
Sammie Okposo took to his Instagram to confess his wrongs and seek forgiveness after he was said to have impregnated a woman in the US.
Sammie Okposo declared that he would do everything within his power to rebuild his wife’s trust in him and will be removing himself from all ministerial duties until the restoration has been achieved as he believes that this is what God expects of him at the moment.
Okposo revealed that the incident occurred recently, late in 2021.
He was worth $1 million as the time of his passing.

It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to God that I announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, Minister of God, Sammie Okposo.
Sammie slept and went to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, November 25, 2022.
