Police in Vancouver are searching for a woman suspected of spitting on a guy who speaks Arabic in a possible hate crime

An image from CCTV footage purportedly depicts the lady who, according to police, spat on a guy after hearing him speak Arabic in what is now considered a possible hate crime. 

Around 10:45 p.m. on February 26, 2023, the event allegedly occurred in a coffee shop beside West 4th Avenue and Alma Street—Police Department of Vancouver. Police have asked the public for assistance locating a woman accused of carrying out a potential hate crime in Vancouver earlier this year.

The lady who allegedly spat on a stranger at a coffee shop between West 4th Avenue and Alma Street on the evening of February 26 was identified by Vancouver police on Friday and captured on camera.

The press release states that the 38-year-old Vancouver man(victim)  was playing cards and drinking coffee with friends." Police said that the woman initially made a pleasant approach to the men's table and enquired about their language.

Tania Visintin stated in the release that the woman allegedly made a racial remark, poured coffee on their table, and then left after learning that the males were speaking Arabic. She appeared again, approached the same group, and spat in the victim's face.

According to police, an investigation into the incident—which is being investigated as potentially being a hate crime—was started right afterward.

It is humiliating and disgusting to be attacked in this manner. According to every piece of evidence, the victim was singled out due to his origin and language, said Visintin.
