After reporting a child walking along the roadway on Wednesday, an Alabama woman went missing. According to authorities, she returned home late Saturday and was taken to a hospital for assessment.
According to the Hoover Police Department, Carlethia "Carlee" Nichole Russell, 25, called 911 on Wednesday night to report seeing a toddler strolling beside Interstate 459 in Alabama at about 9:30 p.m.
Russell then pulled over to check on the young child before calling a relative to let them know what she had seen. Police say that the family member stopped speaking to Russell, but the connection was still active.
When police arrived in the area in response to her 911 call, they discovered the Russells' car and some of her things. However, they were unable to locate her or any nearby kids.
The police reported that they had not received any new reports of little children going missing.
The only witness who saw a man standing outside Russell's automobile and a gray vehicle, according to the police, saw nothing else of the man or the car.
According to the authorities, Russell wore a black shirt, a pair of pants, and white Nikes.
Russell's safe return was being offered for $20,000 by an unnamed donor, and Crimestoppers of Metro Alabama was adding another $5,000.
Lieutenant Daniel Lowe of the Hoover Police Department stated during a press conference that "we are leaving nothing off the table, and we are turning over every stone in our investigation into some of these facts."
