Ogun PDP governor candidate Adebutu Alerts, "I may be killed."

Ladi Adebutu, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor in Ogun State, has expressed concern that he could be killed while pursuing his case before the election petition tribunal.

According to DAILY POST, Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the March 18 governor's race with 276 298 ballots, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

With 262,383 votes cast, Adebutu finished second in the race, falling short of Abiodun by 13,915 votes.

The PDP, however, argued that the electoral umpire's declaration needed to be corrected because it should have accounted for the over 40,000 ballots that were allegedly canceled.

Adebutu led his followers in a nonviolent protest to the INEC office in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, a few days after the election to express his displeasure and demand that the commission looks into the procedure.

Speaking yesterday at a Conference of Political Parties in Abeokuta, Adebutu said he had been advised to keep his wits about him wherever he travels.

The candidate claimed to have the wisdom to know that from this point forward, he should stay away from crowded places for fear of being killed one day.

The politician from Iperu said he does not wish to pass away but is confident that the mandate belongs to the PDP and the people and will be reclaimed even if he does. The man said I'd been advised to be careful wherever I go and to avoid crowded places for fear that I might one day be killed.

"The PDP mandate is the fact of the matter," Although it is a PDP mandate and the people's mandate, I don't hope to pass away. Even if they murder me, I do not doubt that it will be simple to reclaim.

Adebutu continued, "We are determined; it's alright if they want to kill us. In Sagamu 2, they sent assassins from Lagos to assault our candidate. Fortunately, the man was able to flee via the balcony.

He demanded that security services stop covering up the attacks on his supporters. He denounced "the attacks on PDP members in Ogun," particularly in the Remo axis of the State.

Because "we are all Nigerians," he urged the people of Ogun not to allow anyone to imprison them in their cities and villages.

"You will end up as their prisoner if you let them continue to violate your rights without any restrictions. The mistreatment must be resisted. I won't end up in jail in Nigeria.

They intend to force you to begin concealing at home. I won't take that action. "I'm going everywhere," he declared. Meanwhile, the PDP candidate stated that the party had contacted the tribunal to seek redress and expressed confidence that he would win.
