The video, which features VDM donning police attire, has sparked significant attention online and prompted the NPF to launch an investigation into the origins of the police gear used in the content and the authority under which it was obtained.
In a public statement, the NPF emphasized that any unauthorized usage of official uniforms, insignia, or accoutrements is a criminal offense under Nigerian law. Specifically, Section 251 of the Criminal Code Law and Section 133 of the Penal Code Law outline clear penalties for impersonation and the misuse of uniforms designated for official use. This legal framework reinforces the NPF's stance that such acts undermine the integrity of the police institution and violate the law.
