Nigeria Breaking News today: TikTok bans an influencer for spreading false information about Osinbajo's daughter

The social media platform has banned @Realcharley22, a Liberian TikTok content creator, for spreading false information about the daughter of Nigeria's Vice President, Kiki Osinbajo.

Kiki was arrested in the United Kingdom earlier this week, according to the TikTok influencer, because she had large sums of money in dollars. Nigerian blogger Tunde Ednut made a post that the claim was fake.

This led to users who had previously posted screenshots and videos supporting it having come forward to deny it. Many Nigerians hurried to report the page for misleading the public. On Saturday, it became clear that the account was no longer on TikTok.

@Realcharley22 Within 24 hours of posting the wrong video, he posted another video apologizing to Kiki and the Nigerians for the post. He claimed that his source mistook the lady in the video for Kiki.

"I want to apologize to Kiki Osinbajo as she was never arrested," he said. But unfortunately, the story is false, and my source lied to me by portraying someone else as Kiki.

“I want to clarify something about the video I posted earlier; I apologize to my followers and Kiki Osinbajo; she was never arrested. Tunde Ednut, a popular Nigerian blogger, confirmed on Instagram that it is false. Kiki was never arrested."

He requested that I remove the story, and it has been confirmed that it is false."

According to reports, Kiki and her father arrived in Abuja on Tuesday after the vice president's trip to Lagos, where he delivered a speech at the UN World Tourism Organization global conference.
