A lawsuit brought by the People's Democratic Party, PDP, challenging the Accord Party's governorship candidate and running mate's eligibility to run in the Rivers State general elections in 2023 was dismissed by a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.
Yesterday, the Presiding Judge, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam, dismissed another PDP suit filed against all Accord national assembly candidates for lack of jurisdiction.
Nigeria Breaking News Today: The court dismisses the PDP's disqualification lawsuits.
Daylop-Pam, who avoided discussing the case's merits, cited recent Lagos and Rivers State Court of Appeal decisions that were held. It says that no court has the authority to hear claims brought by one political party against the internal affairs of another.

The judge ruled that any attempt by the court to intervene in the case after the appellate court rendered its decision would be labeled a rascal.
As a result, he upheld the defendants' counsels' objections and dismissed the PDP suits.
Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the Accord Party's governorship candidate in the state, has described the court decision as a victory for his party.
