The National Democratic Congress (NDC) executive team paid a joyful visit to thePerez Chapel at Dzorwulu in Accra on Sunday. The visit was to praise God for a successful party reorganization process that resulted in the election of new leaders at all party levels, from the branch to the national.
NDC's executive thanks God for the congress's success
The NDC National Executive, who were all chosen at the National Delegates Congress held in December of last year, entered the church auditorium wearing white clothing and were led by its National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
They were accompanied by a few party elders, including Kofi Totobi Quakyi, Sylvester Mensah, and Kofi Adams and Sam George, MPs for Buem and Ningo Prampram, respectively, and several members of the Minority Group in Parliament.
The celebration gave the church GH 20,000 as a mark of appreciation. Last Friday, the party participated in the Muslim prayers at the National Mosque. Mr. Nketiah sent the National Chief Imam GH 5,000 and other undisclosed monies to the mosque's chiefs and elders.
Among the NDC members who attended the mosque was Kojo Bonsu, an aspirant for the party's flagbearer position who started his campaign by erecting billboards and posters nationwide.
Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the founder of the Perez Chapel International, preached the importance of Christians learning to recognize God's voice and have a complete connection with him.
He added, "We need the voice of the Lord to guard us through this confusing world." According to him, political parties must develop workable social and economic plans to change the nation's course.
According to Archbishop Agyinasare, Ghanaians requested a paradigm shift in policy in reaction to the nation's current economic challenges. This is why political parties needed to lean more toward evidence-based judgments and options if they wished to maintain public support.
"Let's be aware that judgments based on small-group interests frequently result in blatant dissatisfaction and internal apathy. As the next election draws nearer, he declared, "We do not need fantastical, unrealistic, and poorly thought-out pledges just geared at winning power."
He asserted that nations would find peace and togetherness challenging to advance without them because their citizens would be forced to give up hope. The founder of Perez Chapel also stated that political parties must constantly make it a point to strengthen the nation's peace as development agents.
"All parties must make an effort to protect the nation's tranquility as we enter into major campaign activities leading up to the election of 2024. No of the situation, he declared, "we can only elect our leaders by the ballot and not by shooting,"
Archbishop Agyinasare also tasked the security agencies to uphold their commitment to protecting the populace. He also urged the party's leadership to support their stances in the next elections.
He claimed that would contribute to increasing the party's support base. Because the NDC was the dominant opposition party and a potential administration, according to Archbishop Agyinasare, its leadership needed to advocate for better solutions for the country's good as a whole.
Archbishop Agyinasare asked the Electoral Commission (EC) to use the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) to defuse tensions before the 2024 elections. Mr. Asiedu Nketiah thanked the Lord for a good election because the party did not suffer any substantial losses that resulted in life when he was allowed to address the crowd.
After the exercise, he claimed that the party had no choice but to express gratitude to God for his mercies during the process, which included more than 47,000 elections in branches, constituencies, regions, and the national level.
He said the party will hold a second round of 277 elections to choose candidates for every constituency and a flag bearer who would guide the party to victory in 2024. He continued,
"We believe that if we give thanks to the Lord, he will pour more favors and ensure that we succeed." The NDC Chairman declared that because the country was in trouble, it needed brave and daring men of God, like Archbishop Agyinasare, to speak up in dangerous situations.
He urged the congregation to make wise decisions that would result in a better government taking office. "You have power over their choices, but decisions always have an effect.
He added that they pray for a government that will meet their needs rather than one they deserve due to poor decisions.
