LP dissociates from the letter seeking withdrawal of Obi’s cases against Tinubu

The Labour Party has separated itself from a widely circulated letter signed by Lamidi Apapa, the party's self-declared factional national chairman.

They've asked the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to dismiss all claims made by Peter Obi, the party's presidential candidate, against the victory of Bola Tibubu of the All Progressives Congress in the general election on February 25.

Obiora Ifoh, the party's interim national publicity secretary, told journalists, "We appealed to the Tribunal in Abuja to dismiss the antics by Apapa. He is a suspended Deputy National Chairman of our party.

"We are instructing all branches of the judiciary, including the tribunals and courts, utilizing this declaration to disregard the vile behavior of these compromised suspended party members.

The statement said they called on the DSS, police,  and EFCC to arrest these democratic enemies. Ifoh spoke on Channels Television's Politics Today, supporting the party's position, and claimed that Apapa was attempting to undermine Obi's victory with his conduct.

Ifoh claimed that Apapa is attempting to undermine Obi's triumph with his behavior in a later interview on Tuesday's Politics Today program on Channels Television.

"The height of deceit and betrayal is approaching the tribunals to withdraw all of the lawsuits filed by Labour Party candidates across the board. He vowed that Nigerians would fight against this plot to throw the country into needless chaos.

The Labour Party's leadership requests that the tribunals ignore any letter from Samuel Akingbade, our suspended national legal adviser, ordering the withdrawal of our lawsuits.

The party's acting national chairman, Apapa, has asserted he is the party's leader, saying, "Since the court had suspended Abure and other national officers, I am the next to take over."
