Kylian Mbappé and the rest of the Paris Saint-Germain squad won the 2023 Trophée des Champions on Wednesday night at the Parc des Princes. Nonetheless, he did his best to steer away from the conversation about his future.
In the 2-0 triumph, the 25-year-old secured the second goal for the capital club. However, discussions with the media predominantly centered around his future, even with the backdrop of the squad celebrating a trophy.
While Mbappé did acknowledge the situation, he redirected the attention to the team. In the latter part of the 2023-24 season, PSG has the chance to secure three additional trophies, and that is where the winger’s focus lies, not on his future.
“The most important thing is really the titles,” Mbappé told RMC Sport. “We have a determined and young group who want to win trophies. I am very motivated for this year. We have titles to go for. We’ve already won one.”
Additionally, the forward spoke with Prime Video.
“We are starting to see the beginnings of something, which will perhaps take a little more time, but when it is totally, totally good, we will roll,” Mbappé told the outlet. “There are a lot of new players and a new coach with a very specific philosophy.
“It’s been four, five months now that we’ve started to understand what he asks for, understand his reflexes, understand what he wants through his tactics, through his offensive play.”
All eyes are on Real Madrid, who have already extended an offer to the Frenchman to secure the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner. Reports suggest that the Spanish side will have a deadline on their proposal.
Nonetheless, the La Liga side does face competition. Liverpool is actively vying for the signature of the 2022 FIFA World Cup runner-up. Furthermore, if the move materializes, he would serve as the long-term successor to Mohamed Salah.
