Kenyans #OccupyEverywhere is the aftermath of the Finance Bill. There has been growing concern about politicians using religious platforms for their gain and Ruto's recent meeting with the Clergies.

Even though silent, part of the concerns of the Kenyan protesters in the recent demonstration was how politicians leverage the pulpit to manipulate the masses. We have covered in depth the details of the protest: the request, grievances, hit back from the government, and resolutions.
Many Kenyans have expressed concerns about politicians using religious platforms for their gain, and this movement seeks to restore the sanctity of these spaces by ensuring that religious services remain dedicated to faith and community support, free from political interference.
President Ruto Had a Meeting With the Clergy Shortly After the Protest Subsided
Meeting with religious leaders shortly after a deadly protest suggests that the President plans to leverage their influence to infiltrate the hearts and thoughts of Kenyans.
His action has sparked a lot of controversies online from young Kenyans, calling for a thorough cleansing of the pulpit, with a stern warning to invade any church in Kenya that opens his church to corrupt politicians.
A Mombasa-based hotelier, Mwabili Mwagodi, has been contacting pastors and bishops directly by phone and text message, urging them to disinvite politicians. Mwabili Mwagodi is one of the frontliners for the protest against Finance Bill 2024.
The Youth to Collaborate With President Ruto
In a letter signed by the Head of the Public Service, Felix K. Koskei, the Ruto’s administration is seeking dialogue with the youth or active participation through nominees from the youth. The letter clearly state that:
“The NSC will also provide a framework and mechanism for engaging with political leaders in a bipartisan manner. As time is of the essence, the nominations are expected to be received by the Executive Office of the President on or before 7th July, 2024.”
While a faction of the youth seems to be very interested in dialogue, a good numberof Kenya youth refused aggressively.
