At Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, security personnel shot and killed an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) employee. The employee was being transported by bus after performing electoral duties.

On Monday, Udoh Tom, the Delta state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for the commission, revealed this to reporters at the state collation center in Asaba. He added that several other car passengers also suffered injuries from the collision.

However, the Delta REC said that the five additional injured people were receiving medical care nearby but would be transferred to another hospital.
According to reports, the bus driver ignored being waved down at a nearby checkpoint, which led to the shooting.

However, the state police spokesman, Mr. Bright Edafe, says that the incident was still under investigation and that the security guard's name with a gun in his hand had not yet been determined.
Following the kidnapping of INEC personnel, including nursing mothers, during the recently concluded presidential and national assembly elections, there was a shooting incident.

Udoh bemoaned the frequent kidnapping of INEC personnel during the just-completed presidential and national assembly elections, especially nursing moms.
He said that INEC employees were kidnapped due to their inability to upload election data due to a bad network, which was out of INEC's control.

Voters have held our staff hostage, in several locations since the results couldn't be uploaded, according to Udoh. The issue was a faulty network, over which INEC had no control. 

Voters thought our employees were pulling practical jokes on them. I had to post bail for several people. Even this morning, we had to travel to Agbarho village and Ethiope East LGA to release our personnel.
