EgyptAir asks customers who were due to fly from or to Khartoum to double-check their reservations by calling the flag carrier at 1717 from inside Egypt or +966122297777 from abroad.
As skirmishes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) began their fourth day, 200 persons were reportedly murdered, and over 1,800 more were injured in Sudan.
Countries worldwide, including Egypt, and international organizations have called for an urgent ceasefire to stop the killing in Sudan.
Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has urged Sudanese parties to prioritize peaceful discussion and the interests of the Sudanese people. However, Sisi also stated that Egypt is willing to intervene between Sudanese groups.
Egypt's Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, has also urged for dialogue to be held as soon as possible to negotiate a ceasefire, encouraging foreign parties not to engage in the crisis because it is considered a domestic matter.
According to previous claims by Minister of Immigration Soha Gendy, Egypt has approximately 10,000 residents residing in Sudan, half of which are students.
