Domestic and International students can, through the Destination Australia Funds, apply for scholarships from eligible tertiary education providers to study and live in regional Australia.
The government funds eligible tertiary education providers through the Destination Australia Program (DAP). This enables them to provide scholarships to domestic and international students studying in regional Australia.
Following the Australian Bureau of Statistics Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Structure, the Destination Australia Program defines a regional location as any area outside Australia's Major Cities.
Students pursuing studies from a Certificate IV through a Ph.D. for up to four years at regional campus locations throughout Australia are eligible for up to $15,000 per student per year. Destination Australia scholarships support Australian tertiary institutions in remote and regional areas by
- Encouraging initiatives supporting expansion and sustainability
- Allows Australian and international students to pursue high-quality education, training, and research while also enjoying life in Australia's remote and regional areas.
This ensures that regions benefit from international students' social, cultural, and economic benefits.
