China draws attention at the World Internet of Things Convention

According to U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, speaking via video link, the Internet of Things has great potential for sustainable development, and full connectivity ensures that no one is left behind.

Zhang Qin, a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference's Standing Committee, emphasized the benefits of IoT and intelligent technologies to the global economy.

Zhang claims that these developments have facilitated the growth of a new interconnected digital economy and lowered poverty by bringing people closer together and promoting world peace and development.

Zhang emphasized China's significance in innovation development and its duty to pioneer the study and use of the Internet of Things as a benchmark for other nations' social and economic development.

Xuming, the WIOTC Executive Committee chairman, suggested that to accelerate their own IoT growth, other nations could learn from China's experience in creating IoT infrastructure, developing platforms, and implementing industrial applications.

Accelerating the growth of the IoT and the digital economy was suggested in the report to the 20th CPC National Congress.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology says that by the end of 2022, China had 1.84 billion mobile IoT connections, a net increase of 447 million at the end of 2021, making up 70% of the total worldwide.

Additionally, there are currently more than 2.3 million 5G base stations in the nation, which will aid in the growth of the IoT and the digital economy.

Dumitru Braghis, the ambassador of Moldova to China, noted that China could offer the necessary experiences to learn in developing the IoT and the digital economy. He hoped the WIOTC would further enhance the two nations' mutual friendship and IoT cooperation.

Evgenios Kalpyris, the ambassador of Greece, John Busuttil, the ambassador of Malta, and Elia G. Kaiyamo, the ambassador of Namibia, all expressed their desire to cooperate with China to advance the IoT.

Participants in this year's convention included executives from the World IoT Top 500 companies, government officials, representatives from U.N. agencies,  ambassadors, academics, experts from nearly 100 countries, and members of international think tanks and business associations.

The annual conference included forums and special sessions for businesses and governments in addition to awarding the 2022 World IoT Awards and the inauguration of the WIOTC's affiliated commissions in sectors like agriculture, energy, transportation, auto intelligence, and intelligent life.
